Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
During the next 8 weeks, I will attempt to run 8 marathons, with the final marathon (and probably the last ever) being the Paris marathon on April 2nd. I have chosen to do this challenge to raise money for my favourite two charities; Mind and Cancer Research UK.
Mind is an organisation that helps those suffering from mental illness, and that ensures all people suffering from mental illness are seen and heard. Cancer Research UK allow us to fund new treatments that can help people live longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer.
Mind Charity: I have seen in my close friendship circle and myself, how vulnerable we are to feelings of anxiety and depression, and how easily these thoughts can swallow up a person's life until breaking point. I hope by doing this challenge I can prove to myself what I am capable of if I give my 100%, and in turn, I hope to spread a positive message to those I know that are struggling at the moment. There are many things that happen to you in your life that you can’t control, but one thing you can is the way you are around others and how you make them feel. I hope by doing this I can show even just one person that how they feel does matter, and they should always feel like they can speak up; whether that's to Mind, someone they are close to, or even myself.
Cancer Research UK: From a young age, I have always wanted to fundraise for Cancer Research. 1 in 2 people will develop some form of cancer during their lifetime. I have seen recently the impact Cancer can have on your family, friends and colleagues and how unexpected and quickly it can happen. The struggle in completing this challenge is a small fraction of the struggles people face on a daily basis battling cancer. They show real courage and fight to keep going at the hardest times, and by doing this challenge I want to show people the support they have and that they are never fighting alone.
Join me on the marathon journey and feel free to run part of the marathons with me.
Any support would be hugely appreciated to either charity below.
Thank you,
Harry
