Story
As many of you know we did the Yorkshire Three Peaks last year on purple day to support young people with epilepsy.
So this year we are doing a bike ride across the 5 towns. We will have a route that takes us from Castleford into Fairburn into Knottingley onto Pontefract then through Featherstone then a route taking us to Wakefield then up to Stanley Ferry where Ella will meet us to do the final journey back to Castleford. The route approximately 40+ miles.
Ella still has her struggles with her epilepsy with her diagnosis needing review in the last 12 months as her condition changed resulting in different symptoms. Ella battles on with full resilience sometimes it can get her down but she soon bounces back and can smile.
Still everyday she amazes me how she copes unfazed by what it could actually mean if things were to worsen or change and just says but its fine, making me one proud mum that she has such a mature sensible head on her shoulders for such a young person.
I hope you will all find just a little in those pockets to help support Ella and loads more young people who suffer and survive every day with this condition who still thrive and show us grumpy adults that no matter what its not going to stop them having the best fullest life possible.
We know from research that not enough people understand epilepsy or how it affects children and young people, and we need your help to change that. Children and young people living with epilepsy deserve to have their voices heard and their issues listened to.
By celebrating Purple Day, we are helping to inform, educate, inspire, and engage the nation, and helping children and young people with epilepsy live ambitious and fulfilled lives.
The money raised will support children and young people living with epilepsy, as well our teams of researchers, product developers, service providers, policy makers, campaigners, and fundraisers, to make lasting change.
Together we create possible.
