Story
We will be embarking on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge on July 17th 2022, raising money for our chosen charity of Talkback UK. This is in memory of Andy Leach who sadly and unexpectedly passed away in 2021. Andy was passionate about supporting autistic individuals and people with a learning disability and this is one of the main reasons why we would like the money raised to go to Talkback.
We will attempt to conquer the 3 spectacular fells of Whernside (736m), Ingleborough (723m) and Pen-y-Ghent (694m) that dominate the Dales skyline. We will cover 39km and climb over 1700m within just 12 hours to return to Horton and successfully complete the challenge, entering the ‘Three Peaks of Yorkshire Club’.
Talkback will be using the money generated to support their accessible workshops which enables people with learning disabilities or autism to build real-world work skills and use their talents to create positive social change. The Accessible Workshops cover a wide range of woodworking and practical skills. Individuals work to clear and structured plans, with each project treated as a commissioned piece of work. From basic safety awareness around the home, through to repairing, creating, upcycling, and developing employment skills; The Accessible Workshops creates realistic progression pathways.
