Team challenge: 2,000 miles across Brazil for THF: https://www.myvirtualmission.com/missions/177707/2-000-miles-for-thf
- UPDATE: thanks everyone -> challenge stretch target now £800 :-)
- The Huracan Foundation are close to achieving their fundraising campaign to raise £10,000 - let's get them over the line, and beyond, to celebrate a decade of incredible impact! All donations made here will go towards the charity's total: www.justgiving.com/campaign/10for10years
- Ten years ago, Huracan FC London, inspired by Club Atletico Huracán in Argentina, started a remarkable journey that sparked a mission to use football as a force for good on a global scale.
- A decade later, the Huracan Foundation's mission is clear: provide vital financial support to grassroots charities and initiatives led by dedicated educators in the Teach For All network. Together, they use football to inspire change and transform education - this impact reaches 17 countries, supporting 41 life-changing projects.
- Also ten years ago, Andy Smith was in Brazil taking on his #SambaCycle challenge to visit all 12 stadiums for the 2014 World Cup, and raise donations for sports charities. From January to April, he pedalled 3,000 miles to pass half way and reach the city of Salvador. The remaining 2,000 miles of the cycle route would trace the eastern and northern coasts of Brazil via Recife, Natal, Fortaleza - where Andy was joined by his brother Martin for the final 1,000 miles - to Belém at the mouth of the Amazon river (where they took a ferry to reach Manaus in the heart of the jungle!).
- A decade later, Andy and Martin are recruiting teammates to join them to virtually retrace those 2,000 miles via My Virtual Mission, which will add our team's cumulative distances covered in real-life exercise (tracked via Strava, Fitbit, Apple, etc) to progress along the route from Salvador to Belém! Please support us by following our journey and adding your donations to enable The Huracan Foundation to reach £10K for 10 Years!
Thanks :-)
