Story
My name is Tarun Devnani. I am based out of Sydney, Australia. I turned 39 on 4 August 2023. I have committed my 40th year to endurance running. I have been training with Sydney Striders since April 2023.
On 6 August 2023, I planned to do a 40 km charity run in Parramatta Park, Sydney, Australia [which is ~13 laps (~3.2 km per lap) of the park]. With participation and encouragement of my friends in each lap, I completed 41+ km in 4.5 hours. Some of my friends extended their support by walking in the park. 30 of them participated in the event with their families. After the run, we had BBQ, drinks, fruits, cake, and tea in the park. A video summary of the event is uploaded on YouTube: https://youtu.be/31G8Kq_1K6g
On 14 August 2023, I did a 14 km run “City2Surf” in Sydney, Australia
On 17 September 2023, I completed my first official full marathon in Sydney, Australia. I finished Sydney Marathon in a little over 4 hours.
Over the next few years, I have set an ambitious target for myself. I will try to complete https://www.worldmarathonmajors.com/six-star. These majors are in Chicago, New York, London, Boston, Berlin and Tokyo.
To begin this journey, I finished my first sub-4 hour major marathon in Chicago on 8 October 2023. I ran Chicago Marathon through a charity - “Mercy Home for Boys and Girls - Heros helping Kids". With support of my friends and colleagues, we raised US $ 1,750 to support their noble cause.
I have completed one of the six majors. Next on the journey is London marathon on 21 April 2024. I am doing this with the support of a charity “Time & Talents”. I have committed to raise £ 1,500 to support their noble cause. Donations can me made in multiple currencies at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/tarundevnani
A brief about what that they do is below:
Based in the heart of Rotherhithe in South East London, Time & Talents provides vital support, fun and friendship to local kids, families and older people. We deeply value our community, and work hard to help everyone feel valued, connected and included.By donating to the Time & Talents London Marathon 2024 team, you'll be enabling us to support local people, young and old, from the little ones who have fun digging and planting at our Little Bugs Nature Club, to the older adults who have made new friends at Pub Club or one of our walking groups. Every donation allows us to continue our work, whether matching volunteer befrienders with housebound older people, running our Stroke Club, or providing kids with fun activities, healthy food and opportunities to make new friends. We spend every pound our Marathon team raises on fighting the isolation experienced by so many older people, and on supporting kids and families bearing the brunt of years of government cuts and reduced services.
