What is Tiny Tickers mission? And why should you donate?
A message from Tiny Tickers themselves:
When parents find out their baby has a serious heart condition, it can be a very devastating and difficult time for them. This has been made even worse in the past year during the COVID pandemic. When their baby is in hospital having open heart surgery, only one parent at a time can stay at the bedside, making it an even more lonely and frightening experience.
We support families during these difficult times in a number of ways - we send support packs, full of information and advice to help them understand and prepare for their child's treatment and surgery. The packs include a 'hug button', which is a little token they can take into hospital to remind them that we're here for them.
We also facilitate support groups, share stories from other families who have experienced similar and have a lot of information on our website. Parents of very sick babies often tell us how helpful all this support is during their darkest hours.
It costs us just £10 to send one support pack and hug button to a family of a baby with a serious heart condition. On Giving Tuesday (1st December) we will be trying to raise as much money as we can to support families.
This is the link to Global Giving, which explains the Giving Tuesday match funding, called Move a Million: https://www.globalgiving.org/learn/giving-tuesday-2020 If you're happy to use Global Giving, we'll set you up your own campaign.
And here's the link to our website, which further explains our family support work: https://www.tinytickers.org/support-info/has-your-baby-got-chd/
Thank you again for making a difference for babies with serious heart conditions and their families.
Best wishes,
Aimee

In Memory of Harry and Meghan’s Angel:
⠀
It is with great sadness that on Wednesday 25th we were informed by an article in the New York Times written by Meghan saying she had a miscarriage in July 2020. All our condolences go to Sussex and those who have experienced the same loss. They are both very strong people with great hearts so we really hope everything will be okay. To honour Harry and Meghan’s Angel please consider donating to Tiny Tickers. (more information about this non-profit organization above)
⠀
She wrote in the article:⠀
“I felt a sharp cramp. I dropped to the floor with him (Archie) in my arms, humming a lullaby to keep us both calm, the cheerful tune a stark contrast to my sense that something was not right.”⠀- Meghan Markle
In Memory of Karyn Collins:
(1964-2020)
Karyn Collins was part of the Sussex Squad and sadly passed away due to a short illness with cancer on October 28th, 2020. Our condolences go to her family and friends who have suffered a great loss. Karyn attended Elizabeth Seton High School and then moved forward to Howard University majoring in Journalism. She then became a news writer for the Flint Journal in Michigan. Years later, she obtained a masters degree in Digital Journalism from Rutgers University. In 1990 Karyn began teaching just like her mother danced at New Jersey’s King Centre for Performing Arts and never stopped until her death. To add on, in 2010, she began a career teaching journalism at Bloomfield College, Rutgers, Seton Hall University and a number of other New Jersey Colleges and Universities.
