Fundraising for Anthony Nolan
Story
My name is Micah and I am a 35 year old photographer based in Edinburgh, Scotland. In September I am going to cycle the TransAmerica Trail (TransAM), a route that traverses west to east across the United States of America. I am doing this unsupported and for Anthony Nolan, a charity set up to help those suffering from blood disorders and in need of life saving stem cell transplants.
I expect the journey to take me around one month if I’m going at a good pace, routing from Astoria, OR, through the Rockies (including Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks) before crossing the plains and finally the Appalachian Mountains. I will have to cycle around 150miles away (which is approximately 10hours per day), with a few rest days, and I will finish in Yorktown, VA, 4228miles later.
My mother survived blood cancer thanks to a donor match found through Anthony Nolan, and I sadly lost a close friend Tom to a similar disease in 2012. Thousands continue to fight, and for many finding a suitable stem cell donor is their only hope.
Every day, Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with a blood cancer or blood disorder. They do this by matching incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells, to people who desperately need a lifesaving transplant. They also carry out cutting edge scientific research, fund specialist post-transplant nurses and support patients and their families through the transplant process and beyond.
Anthony Nolan won’t stop until they save the lives of everyone who needs a stem cell transplant. Every penny you donate brings them closer to that day.
