Story

  • In 2010 I fractured and crushed 5 vertebrae training for the Royal Artillery Gold Cup, a military horse race. As a result I never completed a tour of duty and never fulfilled my ambition to transition from the Honourable Artillery Company to the Army Legal Service. Now it is time to do my bit for the men and women that did and all soldiers that have served our country past, present and future.

Horseback UK founded by Royal Marine, Jock Hutchison and his wife, Emma, are helping these men & women rebuild their lives with the help of our equine friends.

Royal Marine L/Cpl Hare, 'I pay my psychologist in hay and water,' and it was confirmed...

The Sunflowers 4 Soldiers Challenge - on the 630 mile South West Coast Path I will plant a sunflower for each of the 616 soldiers that was severely wounded as a result of the war in Afghanistan.

Why the sunflower; it is always facing the sun, the primary source of energy for life itself.

This pleasant coastal walk with my dogs, Sid & Winston, was going to be a jolly holiday with stops in quaint B & B's. NOT ANYMORE. This is no longer a bimble but a gruelling challenge to be completed with no overnight stop offs, a continuous trek, with food/rest breaks during the day and night and living on Army Rations until it is complete. It will begin in Minehead, Somerset and follow the SW peninsular to finish in Poole Harbour, Dorset.

When you're injured you don't get a holiday, mentally or physically, and this challenge needs to resonate with that.
