Summer Search has been supporting young people from low-income backgrounds to become educated, thriving young adults for 30 years — and now this support is more critical than ever. 

The impact of the COVID-19 outbreak is creating rippling repercussions for Summer Search’s students and families — such as loss of school lunches, loss of hourly-wage jobs, lack of paid sick leave, uncertainty for students returning home from college, and shuttering of small family businesses. 

With schools and other support systems closed, Summer Search has become one of the few constants young people can count on for the support they need. Summer Search remains committed to supporting students and their families in the Bay Area through the pandemic.

This is why we’re asking for your support today. 

When you donate to Summer Search, you help young people discover the power and resilience within themselves. Your generous support opens doors for high school students with high potential but little access to the privileges society often requires to achieve upward mobility. Our comprehensive program gives Summer Search students sustained, holistic support from high school, through post-secondary college and career pursuits and beyond so that they thrive in adulthood.

This year, the summer experiences are going virtual. Students will be journeying on virtual summer experiences, focused on civic engagement, leadership development, and environmental justice, rather than the classic in-person trips.

We hope you'll consider contributing to this great organization. Our goal is to raise $5,000 from May 5th to 25th to fund student summer experiences, mentoring, and urgent basic needs. Every little bit will help us reach our goal and help more students become unstoppable.

• $100 – provides one week of professional mentoring for a student
• $250 – average emergency funding request for a family during COVID-19 pandemic
• $500 – provides post-secondary and financial aid advising for a student
• $1,000 – provides virtual summer programming for one high school student this year

WHY SUMMER SEARCH

This is my first year on the Associate Board for Summer Search. I was drawn to the organization through the students’ stories and I believe the long tenure of the staff at Summer Search speaks for itself.
