Story
Meet Bandit, a badly injured kitten found crying for life after crawling into a Kent garden with horrific wounds but has shown himself to be a little fighter. It was clear he needed urgent medical attention after a couple heard ear-piercing cries coming from their front garden in Bobbing Hill, late one night. How he came to be there is unknown.
What they saw was shocking; the tiny mite was in a pitiful state, unable to walk with a severely infected rear end, damaged leg and broken tail.
Our volunteer Danielle scooped up the kitten and ferried him to a local Veterinary Hospital, where the team removed the maggots, washed and treated his open wounds and made him as comfortable as possible.
Since being discharged from emergency treatment, vets at Fern Cottage have continued with Bandit’s care. His tail has been amputated, his rear leg has been fixed and, although he had an infection after the operation, his wounds are healing and vets have been impressed by his recovery.
Bandit has a long road to travel and he is not ready to be homed just yet, but we are hopeful that with good veterinary care he will be set up to lead a full and happy life. Everyone who meets him falls under his spell.
Bandit is a prime example of the kind of emergencies which come to us here at Swale Cats Protection.
The last year has been difficult for us all, as the world starts to open up again, we will see cats who are ill having missed vaccinations, litters of tiny kittens whose young parents haven't been neutered.
Sadly, many people are struggling for financial, physical or mental health reasons due to the pandemic and as a result we will see many cats whose owners will come to us heartbroken, because they can no longer care for their beloved cat.
Cats Protection will always be here for the cats but now we need your help. Your summer gift could save a cat just like Bandit.
Please will you help the cats and kittens who come through our doors by supporting our appeal and helping to fund Bandit's treatment?
From everyone at the branch we thank you for your continued support, we couldn't help so many local cats without you and we are all so grateful.
Any donations over the cost of Bandit's treatment will go towards other cats in our care here at Swale Cats Protection.
