Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

As many of you will know, my beautiful brave Sue, our wonderful, cherished mum died peacefully in our arms in the early hours of Sunday 19 April 2020 after a 4.5 year battle with cancer. She has left her broken and battered body but her spirit and her undying love lives on in us. Please treasure the love and positive energy that is her legacy and thank you for the kind and thoughtful support you have given to Sue and our family. She certainly made the world a better place for everyone she touched.

During her fight with cancer, Sue always sought out the best medical treatment she could find, researching the latest trials, tracking down the best consultants and believing that knowledge is power. She gained a great deal of support from OcuMel UK, via their online support groups. OcuMel UK is a registered charity supporting those affected by ocular melanoma. They raise awareness of eye cancer amongst the  public and work with medical professionals to increase their knowledge and further their research of this rare cancer.

Whilst Sue is no longer with us, we are determined that her incredible spirit for life continues and we want to do everything we can to support the fight into this rare disease. We want to change others’ lives, just like she has changed ours.

Any support you can give would be hugely appreciated.

Lots of love

Grahame, Jenni and Becca xxx

Ocular melanoma is so rare and the prognosis often so overwhelming, that patients frequently report feeling totally isolated. We advocate for change by uniting stakeholders against ocular melanoma cancers so people receive the treatment, information and support they need.
