Story
Hi Everyone,
On the 13th of October I will be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon (https://www.royalparkshalf.com/) in aid of the charity Down's South London(https://www.downssouthlondon.org/). This will be my first ever half marathon and I am very excited and proud to be able to do it while supporting a charity which is very close to me and my family’s heart.
Down's South London are a vital resource and friendship group for children who have Down's Syndrome that live in South London. As some of you are aware my son Oscar has Down's Syndrome and when he was born we were put in touch with the charity and with the help of their highly specialist therapist who offer a unique package of speech and language, physiotherapy and occupational/sensory therapy of how young children with DS develop we were able to gain the knowledge and experience of how to give Oscar the best start.
I cannot imagine what it would have been like trying to understand Oscar, his needs, development and what to expect from a person who happens to have syndrome.
With the support from the charity comes connections and friendships with other families who are also blessed with children who have Down's. The friendship group are also a vital resource and support with help and guidance based on personal experience of the challenges and learnings of our most precious children.
Oscar is just one of the many children and their families who have the invaluable support from Down's South London and the continued donations without which the charity would not exist will ensure this support continues.
