Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
I ran in the 2009 Flora London Marathon in aid of Dreams Come True, a charity whose aim is to fulfil the dreams of terminally ill children. Everything went well, the training was long and hard but strangely enjoyable.and the lead up races gave me a good insight into what was to come. The day was dawned and despite the weather forecast it wasn't overcast, the sun was out and even at 6am it was warm - it was going to be a hot one!
All went well for the first 15 miles and i was running along really enjoying the day. Mile 15 and wham my left knee gave way and i thought i would have to quit but the crowd where so encouraging and enthusiastic there was no way i was giving in. So for the remaining 11 and a bit mies I hobbled, walked and limped to the finish. I forced myself to run the last mile so I could really take in the crowd and that feeling of turning into the Mall and seeing the famous yellow Flora finish line. Crossing the line was just an emotional release, especially when the medal was put over my head. The pain in my leg was excrutiating but the feeling of acheivement far outwayed that. On top of this I had the knowledge that terminally ill children would benefit - so what was a little pain to what they were going through.
As you can see I have almost acheived my goal but I'm just a few pound short. If you are in a position to help break that barrier please do. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Dreams Come True Charity gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
THIS IS A TOTALLY SECURE WAY TO SPONSOR ME.
So please sponsor me now, and help make those DREAMS COME TRUE!
Thank you.
