Story
London Marathon is one of the most famous marathons in the world. I've been trying to get into this marathon for years. And now I'm in it!
As well as a marathon it is also the largest charity fundraiser in the world, so it seems appropriate to not just take part in the marathon, but to also take part in the fund raising in order to help others.
I'm not good at fund raising. In fact, I've never done it before. I usually do my bit for charity quite quietly by subscribing to the things I like and which I feel are under represented - donkeys and trees and political refugees for example. But I thought for London that I would join a big charity that would help me raise money and give me some support.
The British Lung Foundation seems a decent enough charity, and lung disease affects an awful lot of people of all ages - children to senior citizens. With cut backs in the NHS, it seems more appropriate now than ever to help support a medical charity doing worthwhile work.
And in addition to all that, they will cheer me along the way, and provide me with a hot shower at the end. Bless them. Bless the British Lung Foundation.
