Story
This amazing family has a very special place in my heart. Three year old Ann is the daughter of a dear friend of mine, Esther, who was an absolute life-saver during my years in Kenya and is still a very close friend. Ann has just been diagnosed with sickle cell anaemia, a red blood cell disease that can be managed but is not curable. It causes immense pain in the joints and will require daily medication for the rest of her life in order for her to survive. I know this sounds desperate, but we are. Without daily medication, Ann will not be with us as long as she should be, nor be experiencing the full life she deserves.
Esther and her husband are incredibly hard working, kind people who care so so much for their children. But unfortunately, their current income will not cover the total costs needed to pay for Ann's daily medical treatment.
I would LOVE to fundraise to cover the costs of Ann's recent hospital visit, her daily medications for the next one year and health insurance for the family so that her monthly check-ups, blood tests etc. will be covered! This would alleviate SO much stress from the family and would ensure Ann's health as we look for a permanent solution to address this problem for Ann and her family.
Truly, any little bit you can contribute helps so much. To put it in perspective, her monthly medication is just $£20 but even that amount is not attainable by most average families living in Nakuru.
Thank you so much for taking time to read about Ann's story. All virtual hugs, prayers and good vibes also welcomed :)
