Story
** Please see the short update below **
The trip:
Starting at Ireland's most northerly point we will cover just the short 427 miles from Malin Head to Mizen Head over seven days, via Buncrana, Enniskillen, Longford, Nenagh, Mallow and Clonakilty. If you view it on the map it all looks downhill...at least that's what we thought when we signed up for this!
The team:
Dave N - It was all his idea, so has nobody to blame if it goes wrong. Suspects his £100 Halfords mountain bike is not ideal but his Yorkshire roots means it'll probably not get upgraded, although he may take the shopping basket off.
Mark - Not ridden a bike for 20 years, slightly overweight, totally unfit and highly likely to do himself an injury - but willing to give it a go!
Dave K - Granddad of the group, and probably the fittest. His wife undertook a charity ride earlier this year, and not to be outdone, he wants to double the distance.
The charity:
Marie Curie Nurses work across the UK providing care and support to people with terminal cancer and other illnesses in their own homes, close to the people they love. By contributing to our fundraising target you will be making a real difference to those unfortunate people with cancer and life-limiting illnesses.
£20 pays for a Marie Curie Nurse to look after a patient for one hour in their home. £235 would pay for one day's attendance at a Day Therapy unit in a Marie Curie Hospice. £515 pays for the cost of caring for an in-patient in a Marie Curie Hospice for a day.
