Thank you for all donations received to date. The generosity of the community has been amazing and we are so grateful.

Gillett & Johnson quoted £1,500 to repair the damaged bushes. Due to the clock location, it can be very hard to check all parts of a clock on a single visit and there may be further work or extra call out visits after the initial repairs are completed. There is also opportunity to make enhancements to the strike train.

In the event that we receive more than is required to repair the clock, we will put any surplus towards the ongoing maintenance of the clock
and surrounding building.

You may have noticed the hands on St Mary’s, Horsell tower
clock are now fixed at mid-day after the clock stopped working.

The Gillett and Bland clock was installed in 1873, only 14
years after Big Ben was the first to be built to the same Denison design.
Gillet and Bland of Croydon became Gillett and Johnston of Croydon in 1877, and
it is their engineers who will assist us to get the mechanism going and
regulating it to keep an accurate time.

Naturally there is a cost involved with work on such a
historic timepiece. Any timely donations will be gratefully received.
