About Southwark Cathedral
Set on the Thames south bank, Southwark Cathedral is a site of constant change. The first church was built around 606. It became in 1106 the Priory of St Mary Overie. After the Reformation it became a parish church and in 1905 was consecrated as the cathedral for the new Diocese of Southwark.
