Our vision is for a world in which every mitochondrial disease patient has a voice and access to treatment, support to improve their life and, ultimately, a cure.

Thanks for visiting! As you may already know, we are an eclectic bunch from Broadcast Operations who have taken on the challenge of cycling all the way from London to Brighton this very fast approaching April.

One of our team, Dave Clarke, has a four year old son called Edgar who has Leigh’s Disease, a rare form of mitochondrial disease, for which there is currently no cure or treatment. For quite some time now he’s wanted to do something to help raise money and awareness of this range of disorders, so when he saw the notices at work inviting Sky Staff to do a bike ride from London to Brighton, he thought that’s just the sort of challenge and opportunity that he needed.

We are joining him in this venture in the hope that we can all raise some money for the Lily Foundation which is committed to finding a cure for Mitochondrial Disease, along with training doctors and supporting families with sick children. Sky match fundraising pound for pound, and if you raise money as a team that can be up to £1000! So, for every £ you donate Sky will match that £.

Rather than be a victim of this disease, Edgar is a massive inspiration to his Mum, Dad and big brother, he’s constant smile and laughter make all the pain and heartache seem trivial by comparison and so rather than sit and wait for a cure, we would like to get on our bikes and raise some money to help the Lily Foundation achieve its goals, so thank you in advance for your donation, and we can assure you that every pound will help us on our trip, and at over 50 miles, some of us need every bit of encouragement we can get!

Now, all that’s left is to spend the next few months training so that we can complete the 54 miles in one day ….
