Wednesday 28th May:
Only last week I was mentally drafting my 'Thank You' message to all you generous donors. With huge regret I have to report that on my very last 70-mile training ride I had a burst front inner tube, careered off the road and broke my wrist. 6-8 weeks in plaster and a strict ban on riding. Massively frustrating - the cyclists are now pedalling through a rain-swept Normandy and earning their rightful distinction. But much deeper is the sense of having failed to complete the course, for the good of the Team: that means for Bryn and Emma Parry, for all the organisers, for the riders and for you, the donors. Your generosity has already gone some way to providing that extra help for our brave servicemen and women (and some of them are even out there in France doing their bit on 2 wheels, right now!).
Even since my crash some kind people have also given (sympathy vote, perhaps?!), so thank you to all of you. For anyone else who wishes to do so, using this site is simple, secure and the most efficient way to sponsor me and this great event: Help for Heroes will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, Mr Darling's people will graciously add an extra 28%, repaid from your tax, at no cost to you.
Any amount you can give, or have already given, large or small, will be hugely welcome.
Thanks so much. Simon
