Story
Let's come together to raise enough money to get the innovative and highly effective 'iheart' mental health programme into every school so that we can grow resilient children and ultimately a resilient society.
* iheart = innate health education and resilience training.
We are in the middle of a mental health pandemic
with one in six children aged five to 16 identified as having a probable mental health problem and 80% of young people with mental health needs agreeing that the coronavirus pandemic had made their mental health worse. Shockingly suicide was the leading cause of death for males and females aged between five to 34 in 2019 and one-third of mental health problems in adulthood are directly connected to an adverse childhood experience (Young Minds Charity). Waiting times to access treatment on the NHS is often over a year and resources are stretched to the limit. We need to be stopping fires rather than putting them out and so EVERY child needs to learn the secret to their own wellbeing and resilience to show them that they have everything they need inside them.
iheart is an innovative, highly effective
and unique mental health curriculum for young people in schools, groups and 1 : 1 settings that is achieving extraordinary results. This early intervention addresses the root causes of poor mental health and emotional issues and helps young people to uncover their innate resilience and wellbeing so that they can face future challenges and school transitions with confidence. The curriculum consists of 11 interactive one-hour classroom sessions delivered by an accredited iheart facilitator or a trained, iheart-certified member of staff.
Over the last 4 years, iheart has reached 20,000 children and the results speak for themselves:
98% of children noticed a positive change in themselves at the end of the iheart programme
95% would recommend the iheart programme to a friend
90% saw increased emotional resilience for dealing with adversity
… iheart is a promising new intervention offering a step-by-step change in mental health education for improving resilience, mental wellbeing and the ability for children to navigate psychological challenges.
