This is the fourth time I’ll be attempting to run the Great North Run and I suppose what keeps spurring me on, apart from the personal challenge is the opportunity I get to support various Cancer charities. This year I have decided to keep it local and support Yorkshire Cancer Research.

As some of you will know, I lost my Mum to Cancer when I was 12 years old, therefore by taking part in this event I can celebrate Mum's life, as well as support vital research into the devastating illness that cut her life short.

Mum will always be an inspiration to me, and the older I get the more I realise what a wonderfully beautiful, strong and courageous woman she was.

If I can help keep another Mum with her children in the future then every single step will be definitely be worth it.
