According to UN reports the the Horn of  Africa is officially in the state of famine, owing to  the worst drought experienced in 60 years. 

This is the first time such a declaration has been made since the famine of Ethiopia in 1984.     

 The death toll is currently 10,000 with many more dying daily.

Sadly 50% of those whom are effected by the famine are children, who are now suffering from acute malnutrition.

Somalia is said to be the worst hit and the fear is that , if nothing is done  then the whole country could go into  the state of famine. Already  basic food and water is not available to most people.
