Story
On April, 26 I will be taking part in the in the Flora London Marathon 2009.
In 2003 I was diagnosed with a tumour (microadenoma) on my Pituitary Gland and informed that this 4mm mass (the gland is 10mm in size) would cause a slow painful death by the time I was 40-years-old.
I will be 38 when I attempt the FLM 2009.
I had Cushings Disease - a life-threatening disease that I'd never heard of.
But Cushings Disease can be treated and so can all the other more common disorders of the Pituitary Gland if caught early enough. Singer Russell Watson and journalist Martin Bashir are two of the household names who have been diagnosed with a pituitary disorder since my diagnosis.
Visit http://www.realbuzz.co.uk/ and type in A Lemon On Matchsticks to find out what happened to me. I'm not famous, but if just one person is inspired or comforted by story then the 26.2 mile slog will be well worth it.
Please help me prove to patients who have pituitary problems that the human body is always capable of extra-ordinary things.
Your support will help patients, who are embarking on the journey back to as near normal or optimum health.
