Story
Hello there - Gavvie here from RadioSEGA.
If you're a longtime RadioSEGA listener, then you know what SEGATHON is by now, or at least you should do. If not - SEGATHON is a fundraising event where I broadcast live on air for a full 24 hours, and raise money for a very worthy cause. The first event, in 2011, raised just over £500 for BBC's Children in Need whilst SEGATHON 2, raising money for Cancer Research UK, raised over £1500, putting it in the Top 5% of all fundraising on this site in 2013!
This time around, we're raising money for Marie Curie, a charity dedicated to providing care and support for people suffering from terminal illnesses, as well as their families. This charity is one that is very close to my family as they provided us with that very same care and support last year after my Mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer.
I had decided then that I wanted to do something for them, as the help they had given us was, I felt, truly above and beyond their call of duty. I know they're there to help, but to take the most difficult of calls in the middle of the night and still be able to help and advise us is something I have never forgotten.
Your donation, no matter how big or small, will ensure that Marie Curie can continue to provide that care and support to families up and down the UK.
Thank you.
