Story
Those of you who have avidly followed my running "career" over the last few years (That'll be my Mum, then) may remember all the injury trouble that I had to even manage to run 3 miles, never mind anything else, only a few short years ago. In 2013 I managed an "epic face-plant" that seriously messed up my running to the point where I am only just getting back to where I was. And yet here I am, preparing to run a 32 mile ultra-marathon with 4400ft of ascent.
As this is my first ultra, I have decided to run for charity, and as there is a fair chance of me needing them on the day, I have decided to put the money towards Mountain rescue. These amazing volunteers risk their lives so that idiots like me can run their legs to stumps doing daft things like this and so that more normal people can get out and enjoy the mountains and open areas of Britain knowing that if they need hoisting out of the bottom of a hole, some brave men and women will do their level best to get them out and keep them alive.
If you enjoy the wild and wonderful areas of this beautiful country and you value your own life, you are morally obliged to donate (I'm serious). So get your cyber hands in your cyber pockets and give generously because when/if they have to come out to me or you, I damned well want them to have the best equipment money can buy.
