Story
Please support my event to raise money & awareness for the prevention of suicide, a topic extremely close to my heart.
On the 4th of January 2020, my heart stopped beating as I was told the devastating news that my beautiful identical twin brother Oli had left us by suicide.
My whole world had turned upside down. The colours drained & everything seemed dark foggy and heavy.
Driven by my raw grief and pain, I’m throwing my energy into helping those in need of help. Oli was vibrant, colourful, witty, charming & quite frankly the other half of my soul. My best friend together since the womb. My light on a rainy day. To face a future without him seems so unbearable at times. I know he would want me to help other men to have a voice and speak up about their mental health.
We had had the year from hell as a family. We were anticipating the death of our mother who had been diagnosed with terminal cancer and we had just lost our cousin all in the space of months. Oli felt like he couldn’t talk about his grief or problems. He felt he couldn’t voice his fears or worries. He bottled things up & the stress just became overwhelming.
By joining forces with the Lions Barber, this tournament will raise money & awareness for men who can’t see a way out from their problems. We aim to remind them that they matter. Suicide doesn’t have to be their last option. Or an option at all. They’re loved. They’re wanted. They’re needed. Here on earth. By everyone around them.
I know Oli will spur me on & give me the strength every day to go on and keep fighting.
This lads football tournament is for you Oli. We hope to do you proud, have a good laugh & feel your beautiful energy with us as we run around reminding ourselves how unfit we all are!
love you bro. Together we are stronger xxx
