On Sunday 15th March 2015, listeners of BBC Radio Norfolk's Treasure Quest programme, along with the presenters David Clayton and Sophie Little, were inspired by visiting "Scarrowbeck Road" to start coming up for ideas for their own pastiche 19th century novel about Scarrowbeck and who might live there.
That evening, for nothing other than the fun of it, I decided to write the first chapter of "Scarrowbeck", and posted it on the Treasure Quest Facebook group.
This seemed to go down quite well and several people asked for me to continue the story. So here's the deal - the first chapter was about 2500 words. So you'd need about 30 of those in total to make a novel-length work.
I will write more if we raise £5 per chapter, with the aim of getting to £150 for the full 30 chapters. If we get more, then so much the better for Children in Need... If we get less, I'll write however many chapters people have donated for!
This is a purely personal fundraising effort on my behalf, and is not connected to or administered by the BBC in any way, shape or form. The chapters will be posted online for free as they are completed, with the aim of having "Scarrowbeck" finished by the time of the Treasure Quest Live stage shows in November.
