The cockerel sculpture outside Whitehall Park School is a beloved local landmark, but is currently in a pretty sorry state. Originally crafted by the artist John Willatts, it has sat atop the wall on Hornsey Lane since 1957.
We're raising funds to restore our fine bird and make him a symbol of pride once more!
The restoration will be led by Amy Anderson ACR, an accredited sculpture and objects conservator who has lived in the Whitehall Park area for 20 years. Amy will lovingly restore our feathered friend to his original condition, so his white plummage and rosy red comb shine proudly from the wall again.
Without repairs, the cockerel scupture will eventually become unsafe and have to be removed. The more the sculpture is allowed to disintegrate, the more challenging any future renovation works would be. We must save the cockerel before it's too late!
