Story
Following the success of Sarah’s Tree in Edinburgh, we (Rosie and Bella) wanted to bring the initiative to Manchester. We are fundraising in memory of Sarah Everard and the many other women who have lost their lives to male violence, and for all of us who walk the streets afraid and worry about our safety everyday. It is for survivors of sexual violence and for the 97% of women in the UK who have experienced sexual harassment.
This is for all women and marginalised genders. This is for Black women, women of colour, women in sex work, disabled women and our LGBTQ+ family, who experience sexual violence in even higher numbers.
We would love for you to find Sarah’s Tree in Whitworth Park and tie your own ribbons to our solidari-tree! This tree is our way of reclaiming spaces and parks which feel unsafe for women. Make sure to send us videos and pictures while you are there via DM to @consentforbreakfast !
We ask that you also donate to our fundraiser for Manchester Action on Street Health (MASH). We recognise that women in sex work are amongst the most likely to experience sexual and physical violence, which is why we have chosen to direct our funds to MASH, a Manchester based charity providing free and confidential support for women in sex work in Greater Manchester.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
