Story
I have decided to run the 2023 Royal Parks Half Marathon to raise money to support an amazing charity called Teddy's Wish. This charity is particularly close to my heart as it was set up by my good friends Jen and Chris Reid, to honour the memory of their baby boy Eddie, who was only three months old when he died from SIDS (formerly known as cot death).
Losing a child is every parent's worst nightmare, and it is unfathomable to think what it might feel like. Very early on, Jen and Chris were determined to set up a charity to fund research and to search for answers. They also wanted to provide support for bereaved parents to help them build their lives again. The charity funds research into SIDS, neonatal death and stillbirth and provides fully funded counselling to grieving families.
I have watched Jen and Chris's hard work, determination and strength over the years. I find them both completely inspirational, and I have always wanted to contribute in some way. Thinking I was a bit of a runner, I jumped at the chance of taking part in this event in the hope to raise as much money as I can for them. It turns out, running this distance is much harder than I thought! I hope you will consider supporting me - I know how much it would mean to Jen and Chris, but more importantly the run is for Eddie, and all the other babies taken too soon.
Thank you.
