Story
My first marathon!
Running 26.2 miles will be tough. Training through the winter in the dark, wind and rain is horrible and staying motivated can be hard.
Why am I running? Think back to the early 1990's, when scenes of children in orphanages in Romania started to appear on our TV screens and the world was outraged at the suffering and abuse they were enduring.
25 years later, and 8 million children around the world are still confined to orphanages, denied the love and attention they deserve to have any chance of reaching their potential.
Their suffering is unnecessary. Hope and Homes for Children work around the world with governments, local authorities and NGO partners, to ensure that support systems and alternative family based care exist in communities so that institutional care is never needed again. Families are supported to stay together and countless future generations of children are saved from the abuse of orphanages.
On 24th April 2016 I will run 26.2 miles for Hope and Homes for Children, to support their work and save the lives of some of the most vulnerable children around the world. Please donate whatever you can!
