Story
At 11pm on Wednesday 28th October 2020, our darling Sarah passed away at home, held and supported by her closest family. It was a dignified, peaceful end to what was a truly special and accomplished woman's life.
Hearing how people have responded to her passing has only emphasised to us the impact that she had on those around her as a positive, loving and truly selfless individual. She lived to enrich the lives of others and it is for this reason that we would like to drive something positive from this loss.
To all those who knew Sarah, they will certainly remember her strength of character. She was a tenacious, loving force in life who displayed an authentic selflessness and grace in everything that she did.
Sarah demonstrated such exceptional courage and good humour when tackling her 3 year battle with Cancer. She was determined to continue living her life without being defined by this diagnosis, exhibiting her most wonderful qualities right until the end of her life. We are so very proud and honoured to have had her as a Mother, a Wife and a Friend.
Why Dorothy House? - Sarah was very organised - she loved a list! One of her wishes is that we took a collection for Dorothy House Hospice at her funeral. Due to the current limitations on gatherings, we thought we would bring this collection onto JustGiving to give her very many friends the opportunity to show their support of this cause.
At every stage in her battle with Cancer, Sarah was supported by an incredible team from Dorothy House Hospice, who visited her at home on a regular basis to ensure that she was closely guided along the turbulent path that such a diagnosis paves. They also took a close interest in the emotional experience of her closest family and we all felt that their dignified, calm and human approach helped us through the toughest moment of all our lives.
Sarah was absolutely determined to spend her final days at home and Dorothy House ensured that this was possible by facilitating an exceptional level of care. The Hospice costs £8595/day to run and we thought that raising this amount would be a fantastic target and tribute to Sarah's life - a final selfless act and a fitting legacy to this extraordinarily loving Woman, Friend, Wife and Mother.
