Story
Hi,
Sam passed away on 3rd August 2022 after living with cancer for 5 years.
I have updated this page so that we can continue Sam’s amazing fundraising for Children with Cancer UK. Sam was able to raise over £37,000 in total for his two anthologies of poems, and £100,000 in total including the amazing efforts of everyone at iris and numerous other friends. It would be fabulous to increase this legacy even further and Charlie, Grace and I thank you for contributing to such a worthy cause.
If you would like to receive a copy of Sam's books of poems please make sure you tick the box to allow me to contact you directly.
Much love, Kate and family xxx
In January 2017 I was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer that had spread to my peritoneum. The prognosis is super challenging, but multiple surgeries, radiotherapy and over 70 chemotherapy sessions later, I'm still here and (most of the time!) living life with a smile on my face and a song in my heart.
Given that my ultra-marathon running adventures have been somewhat curtailed, I decided to write and share some poetry about my experience and raise some funds for charity that way, specifically for Children With Cancer UK.
I have two young kids and I know that them going through this would be a million times worse for our family than it happening to me. Almost 4,000 children and young people are diagnosed with cancer every year in the UK. That’s ten kids, every day. Hence my partnership with Children With Cancer UK - a truly miracle-working charity. See here for more detail ... https://www.childrenwithcancer.org.uk/
Many of you will have donated for a copy of my first 18 anthology ' Still Life'. 'Planting Trees' is a follow up compendium, written two years further down the track.
With much love and many thanks always.
Sam
