We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to come and take a look at the reason why my sister and I chose to run the London Marathon on 13.04.14 and decided we would run 3 major marathons in 365 days with New York on 02.11.14 and the Paris Marathon on 12.04.15.

We wanted to do this in memory of our dad and to help raise crucial funds for the research and cures into Cancer, which affects far to many of us.

Many of you will know that we lost our amazing dad to cancer on 13.04.07 and it was 7 years to the day when we decided to run 26.2 miles for charity on 13.04.14, in his memory with completing the London Marathon which was one of the most emotional days and experiences we could have imagined. We miss him more with every day that passes and would like to celebrate his life with something positive that will help in the research into this awful disease.

The 13th April was also my beautiful daughter Sophie's birthday and it was only because of various trials and treatments my dad received that he managed to celebrate her 1st birthday with us, but sadly died the same day. Stacey was 5 months pregnant when he passed away and our dad never got to meet his first grandson, James Michael.

It is a bittersweet day for our family but what we must remember is without the efforts of the people who research and develop the cures and look into the prevention of cancer he would not have lived as long as he did.

Our dad was so strong and brave and never once complained about his illness even when the effects of the trials he undertook caused him to be in lots of pain with some terrible side effects. He was only 51 when he died and these are the reason we would like to raise money for Cancer Research with the help of your generosity.

Stacey is also running the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon on October and aims to double the required fundraising amount to £1000 for Cancer Research.

We would be grateful of any contribution you are willing to make, regardless of how large or small, in memory of our dad and all of our loved ones we have lost to this awful disease.

Thank you all in advance - we were overwhelmed with all your support.

Sall and Stac xx
