Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
For over 20 years I have been connected to the Western Saharan refugees. It started in college when I met a Saharawi woman named Zahra. She told me about her life in the camps as a result of the illegal invasion of Western Sahara by Morocco. I was blown away by her story. She had been living in a tent in the desert for almost as long as I had been alive, but I had never heard of her country nor her struggle. She changed the path of my life. I went on to teach English in the camps, study and write about the role of Saharawi women, and I continue to advocate for Western Sahara any chance I can.
I have the opportunity to run a marathon in the camps on behalf of the Saharawi refugees. I am so lucky to be able to combine running and supporting the Saharawis who have been working for 40 years to return to their homeland of Western Sahara.
Thank you so much for supporting me in this running adventure which supports the 200,000 Western Saharan refugees in the camps. Doing good for one is doing good for everyone.
