200 for Tim
In May 2019 Tim Jones, aged 17 passed away. He was talented sportsman, a gifted racehorse and event rider and of course a wonderful son and brother. No-one knew of Tim's worries - he didn't share anything with his friends or family. This is an all to familiar story - suicide is the second leading cause of death in adolescents.
Just after Tim's death we set up this campaign to raise money to provide mental health first aid courses for young people in the horse racing / equine and connected rural communities. We have already delivered a number of courses and have planned courses set up for 2020 across the UK.
Tim's Dad, Simon, brother Christopher and friends Stephen Hall and Mark Langam are cycling from Cheltenham racecourse to Aintree racecourse to coincide with the 2020 Grand National - one of Tim's favourite events. The ride is 200 miles and links two iconic Jockey Club owned courses
We want to continue to raise money in support of Tim's cause and enable us to achieve our goal of having Mental Health first aiders up and down the country helping young people in our rural communities.
We know that already young people have benefitted from our training courses.
So, please, we want, with your support to help Racing Welfare build up its mental health wellbeing programme - our goal is to finish and achieve our ambition of having a mental health first aider in each yard - building on Racing Welfare's programme of developing mental health awareness amongst its own staff.
Please give generously and help me create a legacy for my beautiful son
Thanks
Simon, Christopher, Steve and Mark
