Story
Hi there interested person/family member/team member/friend/colleague/general aquaintance/stranger.
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
My wee daughter Darcy (age 6) was diagnosed with Autism in May 2005. She's in her 3rd year in a special Social and Communication unit in Lisburn with a class of 6 (one teacher and 2 assistants). We got the last place within days of her starting school. This unit can only take kids up to P3 so we're not sure where Darcy can go to school next year. What we do know is that she will be fully reassessed to see she fits someones criteria to get board support. Communication disabilities can be even more challenging to a family than physical disabilities. Sandra and I can appreciate now how some families get no support or guidance through all the bureaucracy involved let alone education on how best to handle the condition. The 'about my charity' statement sums up the rest. The NAS pressses government to treat this disability seriously and give it the funding it deserves.
Donating through Justgiving is totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: National Autistic Society gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now and help the National Autistic Society lobby for more recognition and support.
Many thanks
Rupert
