Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
It's hard to put into words how I feel about #runningforjohn. Honoured, sad, if the truth be told a little scared, but mostly super proud to be running in John's memory - for what a memory it is.
We lost our friend John Paul in March 2014 and our lives, and the world, haven't really been the same since. John and I grew up in the same area in London, we loved the same things (people, music, Crystal Palace FC to name a few) and we have a smashing bunch of mutual friends who, like me, miss him every single day.
John was inspirational. He gave everything his all and lived life to the full - inspiring everyone around him and making them ridiculously happy along the way (especially with THAT infectious laugh). He was multi-talented, bright and courageous but with the added, and often rare, qualities of being a generous and genuinely lovely guy to boot. He gave so much but didn't make a song and dance of it. He was just being John.
He left a lasting legacy and that's why I'm 'doing a John'; giving it my all and running the Hackney Half Marathon for Hackney Quest, a fabulous organisation that provides long term projects for the benefit of families and young people at risk of social exclusion and whose values mirror John's.
So I'd like to invite you to support my fundraising in anyway you possibly can - so I too can do my bit and carry on his legacy.
To pinch some inspiring words from Tony, John's brother-in-law, 'Let's be more John Paul'.
Thank you in advance for your gracious donation.
