Bupa Great South Run 2010 · 24 October 2010 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

All donations made on this page will go to the Alzheimer's Society. If you'd like to make a donation to Macmillan Cancer Support then you can do so at: http://tempuri.org/tempuri.html

This idea started after we'd run the 2008 Great South Run, the first year that Channel 5 showed the race live.

Basically we wanted some way to stand out from the crowd and get onto the tv. And after a beer or two (well, one beer) this seemed like the obvious choice!

Of course we then realised that it was also a great way to raise some money for charity. Initially we were just going to support a cancer charity; the green Macmillan logo suited our choice of costume nicely. Then, because of personal reasons for one of the team, we decided to also support an Alzheimer's charity. This meant more cutting and sewing on the costume, but we think it's been worth it!

Many thanks for your support.

Andrew, Chris and Richard.
