Hackney Half - in memory of Richard Walker

2018 Hackney Half · 20 May 2018 ·
Last year my father, Richard Walker, passed away after a relatively brief but brave battle with lung cancer.
On the day of his passing, 13th November, I signed up for the Hackney Half Marathon and resolved to run it in his memory, and crucially to raise money for a lung cancer charity.
So I've roped in my three housemates - Chris, Katie & Sean - and together we will be raising money for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.
I chose this charity specifically because they do a lot of important work in funding research into early detection methods.
By the time Dad found out he had lung cancer, it was far too late to effectively treat, and it will sadly be the same for many thousands of others every year.
It's a cruel disease and any money we raise that helps anyone live even a single day longer than they otherwise would have will be money well spent.
So please do give generously if you can, every penny counts. We will be eternally grateful for your support, and I know Dad would be too.
Thank you. Now, better get training!
