We are inspiring the UK to give nature a home

Story

Scotland is an amazing place when it comes to wildlife. We are fortunate enough to be able to experience an astounding variety of species and habitats of international importance right on our doorstep. In particular, Scotland holds well over half the world’s blanket bog.
It also plays host to:

  • The unique flower-rich Machair grasslands of the north-west coast
  • Caledonian pinewoods and West Atlantic oakwoods
  • Sub-Arctic Alpine plateau of the Cairngorms
  • Fertile farmland of Aberdeenshire and Ayrshire
  • More than 10,000 miles of breathtaking coastline and outstanding marine environment.

RSPB Scotland also looks after 77 nature reserves that total more than 72,000 hectares and make up almost half of RSPB’s total UK land holding. They are managed mainly to give nature a home, but they are also fantastic places to explore and reconnect with nature and are open to the public to do so.

Sadly, many of the species that make Scotland a wonderful wildlife spot are disappearing and the RSPB is determined to stop this from happening and urgently need your support.

Every pound counts!
