Hello you lovely people.
We're taking part in the The Boston Rowing Marathon
next Sunday to raise money for Iain Rennie Hospice At Home and we'd really appreciate your support.
Act now! £500 might seem like a high target in just a week, but we can make a difference. Please be generous. This is just £10 per kilometre.
"
In brief, a group of overly enthusiastic and partially sloshed rowers from Walbrook RC thought that it would be a fantastic plan to race at the Boston Marathon, a 50km (31 mile) non-stop rowing marathon. We're racing in a mixed-gender Octuple, a boat for 8 rowers, each holding (and hopefully rowing with) 2 oars. To make life yet more interesting, we are hoping to break the current course record which is 3 hours and 59 minutes.
We thought that we would undertake this arduous challenge for charity, to make the agonizing pain and blistered and bleeding hands worthwhile."
I have chosen to support a small charity in memory of my aunt Jack, who died suddenly of a brain tumour this summer at the age of 59. She was an amazing woman who is hugely missed by all who knew her. She was someone who would unfailingly give her time and energy (and often home) to anyone who needed it. She also felt very strongly about the provision of palliative care at home. The
Iain Rennie Hospice at Home made a real difference to Jack's family while they cared for her in her last weeks. The charity looks after the needs of the whole family, and continues with ongoing bereavement support.
IRHH relies heavily on donations. "We receive only 16% of the money required from the NHS, which means our small team of fundraisers has to raise nearly £2 million each year through fundraising and donations, to keep our nurses on the road."
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Iain Rennie Hospice At Home gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor us now!
