We want better Mental Health to improve local resident's quality of life

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Why am I doing this?  Going into Lockdown #2, I was concerned about my own mental wellbeing.  Knowing that this time of year is generally harder anyway compared to the summer months, I decided to take to the rowing machine for my daily exercise.

Having spoken to a couple of good friends, who were also struggling with their own mental health during lockdown and seeing the impact on the students that I teach, I felt the need to do something, however small.

So, I set myself the challenge to row 5km for 50 consecutive days, which means I will finish on 30th December - a good way to see this year out I feel.

I want to highlight that mental health does matter and that exercise has a real benefit to making us feel a little better by reducing anxiety, depression, and negative mood and by improving self-esteem and cognitive function.  Exercise has also been found to alleviate symptoms such as low self esteem and social withdrawal.

Lets make a difference!

Thank you so much
