Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Me and my mom are cycling 471km from London to Paris on the 31st August 2016 to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer Action UK, a charity very close to our hearts.
On the 14th November 2014 we lost our beloved Nico, my moms husband, so suddenly to this very cruel illness. He was diagnosed on the 14th October 2014 and by this time it was too far gone and a month later he lost his life. Although he was a very devoted surgeon knowing all about cancers and their symptoms, even he was surprised when he was told he had pancreatic cancer that had spread throughout his body. There's a reason why pancreatic cancer is known as the 'silent killer'...That is why I am raising money for this charity because I don't want other people to be told the devastating news of having weeks left to live when it could have been diagnosed much sooner.
Pancreatic Cancer is the UK's 5th biggest cancer killer however the awareness is so little!! Pancreatic Cancer receives 1% of cancer research funding and only 3% of those diagnosed survive beyond 5 years!
The support we have had so far is absolutely unbelievable. I was asked to do a press release on our story whilst my mom got it into two Dutch magazines!
