Story
On 12/03/2016 I lost a very close friend of mine Sam who had been fighting leukaemia since June 2015. She responded really well to the treatment at the beginning but unfortunately relapsed in December.
We attended a consultation at Nottingham hospital as she required a bone marrow transplant which we were informed that potential donors had been found.
She was to finish another course of chemotherapy at Derby hospital before then being admitted into Nottingham hospital to undergo the transplant treatment.
During this time Sam unfortunately became very ill and had to be moved to ICU. An infection took over her body and was no longer responding to treatment. She sadly passed away on 12/03/2016 at the age of 29.
After losing Sam I wanted to start doing something in her memory and to spread awareness. I began running as a way to release but also to attend charity events. I run for her, she keeps me going and gives me the hope that I can do it.
From the day I met Sam she welcomed me into the family and was always an amazing friend to me. There's not a day goes by where I don't think about you and I miss you everyday. Love you Sam x
