Story
Last year I bought an old narrow boat, Dingiswayo ,renovated it and brought it down from Wembley through the canals to its present mooring in the vale of Pewsey.
This year I have an even more daunting challenge which will involve actually taking Dingy up the River Severn from Portishead to Sharpness. We will then continue on through the canals, down the Thames and back to Pewsey via the Kennet and Avon Canal a journey of 319 miles and 258 locks – the journey should take around 40 days.
I am not doing this alone. I will have Leo, my cocker- spaniel -turned -barge–dog,and various human crew members will join me en route.
As before,I am raising money to support girls’ education in Ethiopia. I have already assisted in bringing plumbing into the first girls’ house, and I am now helping to build a second hostel to house 16 girls, throughout their secondary education.
Wish me luck
