Story
Ron’s gentle family teachings and values came through in these final days, for the family members rallied and gathered around his bedside. He was surrounded by his loved ones talking about the many happy events the family had shared with him. In the end Alzheimer’s was prevented in stealing away the husband, father and grandfather we all knew and loved for it was pancreatic cancer which took him quickly and without suffering.
Even whilst living through these personally distressing times both Ron and Dorothy provided comfort and support to other sufferers of this dreadful disease, Alzheimer’s. This sudden outcome is an undoubted blessing which saved both Ron and his family from the most distressing last stages of Alzheimer’s.
The charity Alzheimer's Support is close to the families’ hearts. It bolstered Ron and his family through the troubled times, providing access to dementia friendly environments which allowed Ron, accompanied by Dorothy to maintain their busy social calendars with visits to shows, craft classes and many other supportive events such as ‘Singing for the Brain’. The family would therefore greatly appreciate, in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Alzheimer's Support.
Ron’s funeral will be held at 3pm on the 10th of April in Glyntaff Crematorium, Pontypridd and those attending are invited to join his family at the Llantwit Fardre Sports Centre where there will be a celebration of his full and eventful life.
