No before you ask I am not auditioning for a Village People tribute band or a part in a spaghetti western re-make or a porn film and I am definately not coming out of any closet!

Last August after a short illness I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia and as a result spent most of the next four months in hospital undergoing four cycles of chemotherapy to treat the disease.

Fortunately I achieved a complete response after the first cycle and am still in full remission today. I feel fit and well and am enjoying having a second chance at life.

None of this would have been possible without the sterling work done by the teams at the RBH, The University of Cardiff or LLR (Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research).

Research is continuing to try to improve survival rates for blood cancers but this needs funding. I am trying to make a small contribution again this year by growing a mo' for Movember (I figure if you are going to do something you may as well do it properly).
