Rob's 7 in 7 Challenge

7 in 7 : Reloaded · 26 September 2023 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Hopefully, like me, you were inspired or touched recently by (Sir) Kevin Sinfield's Ultra 7 in 7 to raise money for the MND community, all in honour of his great mate Rob Burrow. Running 7 ultra marathons every day for 7 days. An incredible show of selflessness, mate-ship and teeth-gritting determination.
That inspiration has given me a lightbulb moment of madness to attempt my own 7 in 7. Starting on December 1st, and finishing on December 7th, I'm going to run a (modest) 7km every day for 7 days.
I say modest, because I have a real love/hate relationship with running. Whilst I've taken up running again this year, plodding around 25km a month in 3km to 5km efforts, I've only ever run to 7km once before. So for me, doing 7km every day for a week, is going to be tough challenge.
And, if I can raise a little bit of money for a deserving cause whilst doing this, then brilliant. I also can't let that inspiration and admiration for what Kevin Sinfield has done result in nothing from my side.
Why the MND Association?
With motor neurone disease (MND) messages from the motor neurones gradually stop reaching the muscles, which causes the muscles to weaken, stiffen and waste, which can affect how people walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe. MND is life-shortening and there is no cure yet. Although the disease will progress, symptoms can be managed to help achieve the best possible quality of life. Watching documentaries on Rob Burrow and Doddy Weir's situations has really opened my eyes to this disease.
Every penny raised for MND Association will make a difference to people with MND and their families. It will help fund vital research to help find a cure, and help support people living with MND now.
Thanks for your support x
